In this class, we will experiment with a variety of weaving techniques with an emphasis on color, material, pattern, and structure as the vocabulary of woven language. Focusing on the interactions between these elements, students will learn about color theory and material properties as they use the floor loom to create both experimental samples and finished pieces. We will take inspiration from a global history of weaving and contemporary art, while students are encouraged to develop their own technical, material, and visual vocabularies. All levels welcome. Beginners encouraged.
